How to get a refund if your Delta flight is cancelled?

Cancellation

Delta Flight cancellation & refund policy depends on who cancels the flight. If Delta cancels your flight, you may get a refund or rebooking. Whereas, if you cancel a flight with Delta, the rules depend on your fare type.

Some tickets, like Delta Basic Economy, have cancellation fees, while Main Cabin and higher fares on select international airlines routes allow free cancellations. Here are the details:

• Within 24 hours of booking: No charge.
• After 24 hours: A $99-$199 cancellation fee applies. The remaining value is issued as an eCredit.
• Within 24 hours of departure: The same cancellation fee applies.

• Within 24 hours of booking: No charge.
• After 24 hours: A $0-$400 cancellation fee applies based on fare type. Remaining value is issued as an eCredit.
• Within 24 hours of departure: The same fee applies.

• Refundable flight tickets are fully refundable anytime if fare conditions are met.

Refund

• Refundable Tickets: Get a full refund for your refundable flight tickets if you cancel within 24 hours of booking. Refunds must be requested before departure.
• Non-Refundable Tickets: A cancellation fee applies, and the remaining amount is issued as an eCredit for future travel. Always cancel before departure to retain the airline's ticket value.
• No-Show Policy: Modify or cancel flights before departure to keep your ticket's value. The Basic Economy cannot be changed.
• Refund for Canceled Flights: If Delta cancels your flight or delays it by 120+ minutes, you may receive a refund or rebooking. Use the Travel Disruption Refund Request form or check My Trips for options.

Change your Delta Flight

Date Change

Plans change, and Delta flight change policy allows flexible date modifications for most tickets. Change fees are eliminated for flights originating in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean, except for Basic Economy. You can easily change your flight through My Trips before departure.

• Free Changes: Most tickets, except for Basic Economy, can be changed without a fee.
• Fare Difference: You must pay the difference if the new flight costs more.
• Non-Refundable Tickets: Depending on the route, a change fee of $0-$400 may apply.
• Refundable Tickets: These can be changed for free if fare rules are met.

Basic Economy tickets generally cannot be changed but may be canceled for a partial eCredit. Always modify your ticket before departure to retain its value.

Name Change

Delta name & date change allows name corrections on tickets, but some restrictions apply. If your itinerary includes partner airlines or travel to/from China or India, contact Delta Flight reservations phone number for assistance.

Minor Name Corrections:

• First or Middle Name Corrections: You can correct first or middle name spelling mistakes without needing a waiver code.
• Last Name Corrections: You can modify up to three characters in the last name without assistance. If more than three characters need correction, contact Delta.
• Adding a Second Last Name: If you need to add a second last name (e.g., Smith to Smith-Anderson), you can do so without requiring a waiver code.

Major Name Changes:

• More Than Three-Character Corrections: If your last name requires a correction beyond three characters, assistance from the Delta team is required to process the change.
• Multiple Name Corrections: If you have already corrected a name once and need another modification, you must contact Delta reservations phone number to reissue the ticket.
• Inverted First and Last Names: If your first and last names are reversed on the ticket, you can correct them, but in some cases, Delta's approval may be required.
